v.O.L.V.o

By Adok/Hugi

v.O.L.V.o was a diskmag by the Norwegian joke-group rECTUM cAUDA. Only one issue was released. It can be downloaded from scene.org (almost 1000 downloads so far) and it works with DOSBox, but you will need dos4gw.exe.

v.O.L.V.o #1

v.O.L.V.o #1 (from January 1997) was edited, coded and painted by Deluxepaint of rECTUM cAUDA, who was then 14 or 15 years old. The music was contributed by Pothead Pixie of Beam, and it's pretty good - maybe the best thing about v.O.L.V.o #1.

In the editorial Deluxepaint complains that there are no interesting diskmags on the PC scene, even Imphobia is bad in his eyes (tons of articles about always the same topics, a lot of music that sounds all the same), and writes that he wants to change that. There are also two anti-Imphobia articles in the Scene section. Some of the other articles were originally written for Daskmig #9, but as this mag was never released Calvin of Proxima handed them to the v.O.L.V.o editors. One of these articles is "Musicians and their diskmag-relations", in which Welti of Engima talks about why musicians prefer making music to writing articles.

There are more real-life-related articles than scene-related articles. There's e.g. an article about the history of torture. There are also articles in the Norwegian and even in the German languages. The layout of v.O.L.V.o is contiguous in the menu and two-column inside the articles, just like Imphobia.

Most of the articles should not be taken too seriously.
