Xtravaganza

By Adok/Hugi

Xtravaganza was a newsletter about the UK demo scene, edited by Aquafresh of Tesko (also known as Storm). Two issues were released, which can be downloaded from scene.org.

Xtravaganza #1

In the first issue of Xtravaganza, which was released on May 1st, 1998, we can read why this newsletter was founded: in order to "get a UK scene active from a very long sleep" and to improve communication. Xtravaganza was distributed through the UK scene mailinglist, which was set up by Barog. That mailinglist was only the first step in Aquafresh's vision of a UK scene centre - a website with issues of Xtravaganza, a UK demoscene archive, an email directory, demoparty information, a BBS directory, news and a gallery of UK sceners. As you might know, such a website was eventually founded indeed and still exists at the time of writing. Moreover, Xtravaganza #1 featured an article about the Tesko group, a self-introduction of Aquafresh and an announcement of a trip to Wired 1998 in Belgium. 19 kb of text.

Xtravaganza #2

The second and last issue of Xtravaganza was released on June 15th, 1998. By then a first UK scene website had been founded, which was presented in this issue. There were also a news corner, the invitation to the Dejavu party, the self-introduction of Majic Mushroom and more information on the trip to Wired 1998. 16 kb in total.
