Job: coder

Survey submitted: Mon 19 Nov 2007 - 17:02:47

Handle, ex-handle(s):
now: Vital (1991-present), Omicron (1986-1990), The Superior (1990-1991)

Name, birthday, origin:
Peter Eriksson, 20th of february 1973, Sweden

Group, ex-group(s):
no demogroup nowadays. Been in J-Beam, Phenomena on the amiga.

What was your first group, your role in that group and what did that group produce?:
J-Beam, coder, did some demos between 1988-1990.

What motivates you to spend time on the scene?:
Nothing, not very active now, coding for a living and for fun..

What is your favorite color?:
Black

On what platform(s) did you begin your computing journey, and when was this?:
C64 in 1984.

What platform(s) do you use now?:
Only PC (Windows)

What is/are your favorite piece(s) of music(s) - from a demo production or a scener (released outside of a demo)?:
must say that I have many favorites, but right now Tip/mod.animotion

What is your favorite programming language, effect, tool, coder, platform, book?:
Favorite language is Assembler, platform 680x0 (the best platform for assemblycoding).

Discuss: your first steps towards becoming a coder, who helped you, what problems did you run into, your first effect, the future of demo coding:
First steps was that I was interested in making games, but I grew tired of that and made some simple demoeffects on the C64, it wasn't until I got the Amiga in 1987 that I started to do some real democoding..

Which project that you worked on was the most exciting and interesting for you? And why?:
The BBS-System that me and a friend wrote for the amiga 100% in assembler...

What is your favorite demo, intro, megademo, retrogame, slideshow, musicdisk, diskmag, wilddemo?:
all the wonderful demos made on amiga before 1992/1993

What percentage of modern demos are 3d flybys?:
I wouldn't know, dont watch too many demos as I grew tired of the "3D flybys" demos.. so my guess is closer to 99% *am I right?*

What percentage of older demos are the same effects recycled?:
hehe, well, unfortunately I'd have to say close to 99% again

What platform(s) needs more demos?:
SymbianOS (Mobilephones)

Which parties do you intend to go to, and which parties would you like to go to? Please describe your personal experiences with your most favourite or impressive party you have ever been at.:
No more parties for me. No fun. No time.

How did the scene alter since you are taking an active part in it? Can you explain why?:
To me it got booring, not the people, but the demos. I havn't wached many demos the last 10 years, but there are only a few, like 'Heaven 7' that I think is nice. I liked the times where it was hard to make demos, that is, there were limitations in hardware, not like today, new graphicscards every month with new functions... And point 2, I started to think the scene got booring when demos was only released at demoparties (for the possibility to win money or stuff I guess?) *yes I know, not all are, but that is like 0.01% compared to the 'old' times..*

What are your dreams/goals in life, did scene help you and have you achieved them yet?:
Scene did for sure help, I wanted to code for a living, and it's still fun, so yeah..
