Survey of Menace
Job: Organizer

Survey submitted: Mon 07 Apr 2008

Handle, ex-handle(s):
Menace

Name, birthday, origin:
Glenn Lunder, born february 8th 1974 in beautiful Norway.

Group, ex-group(s):
While there were several attempts at penetration into the demoscene with minor two and three-people groups in the early nineties, my first "real" demoscene group that I was a part of was Spaceballs, which I joined in 2002. I have since given birth to Boozoholics in cooperation with Kusma, and been recruited as a "pr whore" for Keyboarders by Quisten. I am a very bad whore, and I'm unsure how much longer he will put up with my incompetence in this area.

What was your first group, your role in that group and what did that group produce?:
Errm, I kinda wrote all that in the previous reply. he.

What motivates you to spend time on the scene?:
Just.. the positive energy and the creativity. Being a part of all that and being around and working with all these amazingly intelligent and creative people.

What is your favorite color?:
Don't really have one. Colours are good, none more so than others.

On what platform(s) did you begin your computing journey, and when was this?:
My very first computer was a ZX Spectrum, but that didn't survive very long. Then the c64 came along around 1985, and I was sold.

What platform(s) do you use now?:
Mac OS X, Linux and Windows XP. XP is still around for one reason and one reason only - because I need it for demos.

What is/are your favorite piece(s) of music/s - from a demo production or a scener (released outside of a demo)?:
Ooh, dude.. so many. Too many to mention. Check my favourites on BitJam instead.

What is/are your favorite picture(s) - from a demo production or a scener (released outside of a demo)?:
Again... too many. Perhaps Angeldawn's Fairlight logo - that's a classic.

Which project that you worked on was the most exciting and interesting for you? And why?:
Hmm, every project has really been a new highpoint. Organizing Kindergarden was a great thrill, being a part of a group that created demos and being able to follow a demo competition with a "that's MY group" feeling for the first time was another. Working with, and hopefully being able to make a difference at BitFellas, is my latest big thrill. It's an honour to be able to participate in the site with all these very dedicated individuals.

What is your favorite demo, intro, megademo, retrogame, slideshow, musicdisk, diskmag, wilddemo?:
That's.. impossible to answer. Really. Too much great stuff.

Discuss: minimalistic demos, cracktros, fucktros, joke demos, lamers, compo winners at big parties, demotools, diskmags, chiptunes, glenz vectors, programming languages, photoshop, textmode:
Everything has its place.

What percentage of modern demos are 3d flybys?:
I don't really mind flybys, as long as they are well made. A good demo is a good demo no matter what category it falls into.

What percentage of older demos are the same effects recycled?:
About 50% I guess. There really was a lot of that in the older days.

What platform(s) needs more demos?:
All of them do, naturally. Ipod Touch could use a demo!

Which parties do you intend to go to, and which parties would you like to go to? Please describe your personal experiences with your most favourite or impressive party you have ever been at:
I would like to go to as many as possible, since I always have a blast at these things... But this year I will atleast go to Solskogen and Kindergarden (since I'm coorganzing that... again). There are in addition these finns that are mumbling about Boozembly and how I need to be there. We'll see.

How did the scene alter since you are taking an active part in it? Can you explain why?:
The scene is an everchanging platform, and that is part of its charm, so.. I'm not really sure how to answer this question.

What are your dreams/goals in life, did scene help you and have you achieved them yet?:
I don't really think it has affected my dreams or goals that much... The scene is a hobby first and foremost, and I can't really say that it makes much of a difference in my personal life.

Finally, do you have some special greetings? Feel free to add links to your graphics, screenshots of effects, modules or other pieces of your work.:
There are too many to mention, so it's better to mention noone than to leave anyone out. Come to Kindergarden this year, it's gonna be awesome
