High Penalties

On August 11th of this year, the Copyright, Designs And Patents Act became valid in Britain.

According to this new law, copying of trade mark protected software is a crime, which can be punished with up to TEN years of jail. This concerns not only the professional or lucrative spreading of illegal copies, but also private copying and passing on of software. Also superiors in companies tolerating illegal copying are liable.

According to FAST (Federation Against Software Theft), all kind of programs (cheap games up to expensive financing and CAD- software) are being copied illegally. Most copied are programs like Norten Utilities, Sidekick and Wordstar.
