Retropedia

[ raww.org ]
Retropedia
Wiki's are odd things. On the one hand they're a source of information provided by Joe Public. On the other hand they're a source of information provided by Joe Public. Providing Joe is having a "good day", that can mean we get a lot of useful, accurate information. And if we don't agree with it, we can change it. Hooray for freedom of speech.
Retropedia is a new Wiki with an aim to be filled with user-generated content about "Retro" gaming machines... you know, Atari, C64, ZX, the old IBM-Compatibles. It's also being designed to act as a "portal". It's all good fun if the community jumps on board. Not a huge amount there at the moment, but that's the way with all Wiki's at the start. Go edit.

Bitfellas.org & Diskmag.de share the news!

After finishing the test phase the news sections of the two scene related websites Diskmag.de and Bitfellas.org have been merged! This should have a lot of positive effects for the users.

You post your news at one station and they will be shown at both. Spam became a serious problem at diskmag.de - now the bots first must negotiate the barriers. And you can now easily syndicate the rss feeds of the news. Plus a lot more! Feel welcome to find out out the rest on your own!

US DOJ Still Chasing Accused RISCISO Members

    [ Defacto2 ]
US DOJ Still Chasing Accused RISCISO Members
US DOJ logoBARBADIAN broadcaster Linda Walrond (57) is not off the hook.

The clock is still ticking on Walrond, who United States (US) law enforcers indicted, along with 18 others nearly a year ago, for allegedly being involved in a $13 million internet piracy ring.

However, while the charges and an arrest warrant in the US still hang over the head of the Barbadian, American prosecutors are playing very close to their chests.

Additionally, yesterday Attorney General Dale Marshall said there was no truth to a rumour that the US Department of Justice had contacted his office to initiate extradition proceedings against the former radio programme manager of the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation.

It was in early February last year when US Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois Patrick J. Fitzgerald, and Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation Robert D. Grant, announced Walrond and 19 others were indicted on federal charges for pirating copyrighted computer software, games, and movies through non-public Internet sites.

Since then most of the accused have been had hearings in the US District Court in Chicago, but the Barbadian and the suspected Australian ring leader Sean O'toole (26) have not.

Pravin Rao, the Assistant US Attorney prosecuting the case, told the Barbados Advocate there was still a warrant for Walrond and that other accused were scheduled to make court appearances later this month.

He said, however, no contact had been made with her.

"There is no new information to report regarding Walrond and O'toole. A number of the defendants in this case have pled guilty and there is a status before the Judge on January 24th for the remaining few," Rao said.

The Attorney General said up to yesterday there were efforts via Government to pursue Walrond, but he said any such undertaking would not be secret.

"If an extradition proceeding is to be done it is something that will be done publicly through the courts. You don't do extraditions in secret, so there is no sense in which anything like that could be done surreptitiously. You would have seen extradition hearings happening in the courts before so there is no reason to think that anything other than that would happen," he said.

reunion #00 - finally a new fresh ansipack

since the recent textmode democompo was rather dominated by ugly random characters, far from the beauty and innovation of textmode scene art - this one comes handy.

apparently some old ansi farts have gotten together to release some new stuff, and although the pack is small, it's for sure worth it (although i really don't get what the rather lame simonking pic is doing there).

    >>>>GET IT!!!<<<<

best viewed with acidview, also give the big pictures a try with vga mode in there.

now, all your textmode demo heads, how about approaching those people and asking them for logos/pics/design for textmode demos? that would be really cool....

    Raww.org: Demoparty Roundup

    [ raww.org ]
    Demoparty Roundup
Just a quick round-up of upcoming parties that you need to produce work for. There's actually just the two in the immediate future (that I know of - are there others in the next few months?). raww.orgy is 4 weeks away, with competitions for 256b intro, screen$, and AY-music. I'll start work on a simple player for the graphics and music in the next few days hopefully. Then there's the upcoming 8th installment of Forever, (one of) the largest ZX scene parties. This is taking place in the middle of March, with the usual Demo, 1k Intro, screen$ and AY-music competitions. There was also talk of Turbo-Sound (2x AY) entries being allowed, but I can't check the site from here so you'll have to check it yourself. My work on a demo for the party has slowed down due to excessive workload at... work. I may work on an Intro instead, so I'll at least be producing something. I expect you all to do the same.

Breakpoint 2007 - Demoscene through time and space
The website for Breakpoint 2007 - ’Demoscene through time and space’ is now online. This year the party is, as usual, held during the Easter weekend (April 6th till April 9th) in the german town of Bingen am Rhein... Hopefully we can expect the same amount and quality of C64 releases as last year... A special request however to GFX artists asking them to join the competition as we really don’t want to cancel the C64 GFX Compo due to a lack of entries - a lot of extra tools have come available in the last months allowing you to make really great pictures. The Breakpoint Organizing Team is eagerly awaiting your entries. Check the website for updates and travel arangements.
