On music and graphics, we have DiHalt 2006. On screenshots, we have Equinox (who's done the honours for Jacek Michalak, Lodz City coders and some Gasman bloke). And finally we have Mitchell and D-Jooz on soundtracks that have been sitting in my inbox for well over a year (eek).

Defacto2 Celebrates 10 Years!
Happy birthday to us, happy birthday to us, happy birthday dear Defacto, happy birthday day to us!Well today Defacto2 celebrates it's 10th anniversary. It was ten years ago on this day that we publically released our first production, an oldschool DOS diskmag that covered the old PC pirate scene back when CD-RIP's were king.
Times have changed, and so have we. But we are still alive and kicking, giving you the great site you see today.
We would like to thank everyone who has helped out over the years and to the former members who have contributed to our many projects over the years. Including two magazines, an art group and a scene blog (before blogs were fashionable).
Here is to another 10 years!

Fairlight's 20th Anniversary
Come April next year the boys at Fairlight will be celebrating, for their group will have reached 20 years of age. And whats a better way to celebrate then by holding a party?Unfortunately because the party is limited to 100 places it will not be open to the general public, nor is it free. But those who are interested in attending can sign up at the party web site to reserve a spot. It will be held over a couple of nights in Cophenhagen, Denmark from June 1st till June 3rd.
This will be more of a social gathering rather then a traditional competitive party. So while there will still be limited C64, PC and Amiga demo competitions. They will have to be created before arriving, as guests are asked not to bring their own computers.
Of greatest interest to readers of Defacto2 will be the launch of the Fairlight DVDR.
Among other things we are working on a DVDR that will include the story and life of Fairlight, and will be released after the party, since it also will include 100s of pictures and video of the event. So if you got any questions about Fairlight, we are sure that this DVDR will give you the answer and more.

It's always the same place at "l'Espace Jeunes". Participation fee is 8� each day, including
meals with too much food at unusual hours, rooms with real bed, and even rushing water to clean yourself.

If you are forgetful, here is a summary of its features :
- IDE harddisc interface for CF-cards and harddiscs with up to 128GB, the transfer speed is up to 162KB/s
- 512KB Ram (dk'tronics compatible)
- 512KB Rom (could also be used as persistant Ram-disc and can be upgraded up to 2MB!)
- PS/2 mouse connector (finally you can connect your wireless optical mouse to your CPC
- Realtime clock with additional 128B persistent ram
30 orders are needed to start the production. The price will be between 100 and 120 Euros, that depends on the amount
of orders. Prodatron hope that Dr.Zed will be able to build it for 100 Euro, but better calculate with the worst case.
Production should start end of september (if there are enough orders then) and will take about 3 weeks.
Personal note : we can be sure of nothing in our life, well just one : just after writing this lines, I will order one symbiface...

The FMPSG group have announced FMPSG - Cyanic beat is to be released on October 9th during the m3 hobby music market. The CD is to contain 27 tracks (8 originals and 17 re-arrangements). Some of these tracks use the brand new SCMD driver to play PCM samples on the MSX's SCC. On the FMPSG website 8 preview mp3s are available for download.

Well ok, not technically movie star, but providing the music for a short film featured over on YouTube. The film is all about the decline of a 1980's videogame company, apparently, and features ZX music. Which can't be bad.
Typically tho', I unplugged and packed away my speakers earlier, so I can just sit and watch the lovely 80's stylings. I'll have to check out the sound when I get back from Sundown. Ooooh.

v0.9.11 of Tommygun, the Windows-based 8-bit devkit, has been released. Lots of new additions to the CodeEditor, like colour schemes for syntax highlighting and various editor options. New Jupiter ACE support, yeah I know you wanted it!
More code generator options for the Speccy. Images can now be resized. And finally the map editor supports transparent and masked tiles.Get it either from WoS under utilities or the TommyGun home page.

SjASMPlus v1.07 RC2 Released
There's been another release of SjASMPlus, the Z80 cross-assembler. v1.07 RC2 brings with it a few little bugfixes, and the addition of the "PENTAGON128" device. It's now also possible to save a .sna file from the assembler when you're working with the SPECTRUM48 device. These changes are in response to feedback over on the WOS forums, it seems.
Note that the documentation that comes with the Win32 binary package is out of date (it doesn't cover RC2 yet), so you'll want to download the document package too.
