Overview: Plopbox is a kind of jukebox which plays tunes created in the 80-90 on machines like C64, Atari, Amiga, PC and others.
You can browse in the archive and clicking on a tune will play it. New tunes, submitted by the users, are added everyday by our admins.
When you have your account, you can use plopbox to manage your own playlist and choose exactly the tunes you want to hear. You will have access to other playlist and can use filters on these. The applet will play the list you selected and plopbox will behave like a web radio.
We're working on more content to offer you the best oldschool experience.
Technical: Plopbox is an heavy mix of java, javascript and dhtml.
The applet is running with java 1.1>1.5 and uses directsound/javasound if available. It uses liveconnect to communicate with the site.
It's been a long work and I can't really detail it here but you're welcome to contact us if you have questions.
The web site is a full div site, with quite a lot of javascript. It uses jah, a variant of Ajax to enhance the navigation. behind it's the classic php/mysql.
Future: We plan to add some very nice content to the site, like a bank of oldschool screens (the applet will behave like a megademo).
We need your help to contribute in the future to the coding of these screens.
We also count on your help to help us adding new formats to plopbox. We're currently adding SID and we're searching for people to add the SNDH format.

Rest In Peace Edwin van Santen
As stated in our IRC topic a few days ago, Edwin van Santen a C64 pioneer and composer passed away due to lungcancer after a long illness at the age of 32 on May 24th, 2006.
He was known as The Silicon Expert of Micronet, EVS of 20th Century Composers (20CC) in scene.

Thanks for reading this informational posting. After the - somehow fallen asleep - PAiN threads at Totalkaos, we decided to try it with a PAiN discussion forum again, this time on BitFellas. This posting should set some borders on how to use this forum (even if, of course, it's open to everyone and for every topic, too). Why a PAiN thread in a forum Email feedback never really works. With this forum, the feedback for PAiN issues, or even single articles is somewhat consolidated and open for discussion. For diskmag-editors it's quite essential to get feedback on what they write - and many topics are also quite good for discussions which could in turn then again lead to a follow-up article. Possible topics of this forum

Which ones are really cool?
To follow and express the spirit of this board following please find a little checklist for a catalogue of really impressive and outstanding Flash driven sites.
This one has been set up to give a helping hand and to make it more easy for you to decide what's really cool and what's not:
The site has to offer something really new and hot, regarding if it's concerning the layout or the content.
It should be much better or show impressive improvements compared with already known sites out there.
The site has to be real unique and not just a slightly changed copy from already existing sites.
The page has been completed (not under construction) and must be technically ok.
I did check out the thread and database carefully and did not find my recommendation yet.
To support searching operations for everyone please post the complete URL in the topic, like e.g. www.myfavourite.com
