Most of demos released by the groups I've been members in have rocked!

Discuss: minimalistic demos, cracktros, fucktros, joke demos, lamers, compo winners at big parties, demotools, diskmags, chiptunes, glenz vectors, programming languages, photoshop, textmode:

I have always thought the big demos are the best ones - as it clearly takes more efforts of everyone to make it good. In a 64k or whatever, the music may suck because everyone knows of its limitation - I never agreed to that.

In my opinion, go for the best possible result always. I don't care what equipment or "how big a file in size" is, just as the end result is amazing.

When that's said, it is ofcourse impressive to see coders make magic out of only a few bytes of code. But that is a totally different thing... Shouldn't be mixed with graphic or music size limitations that basically ruins the overall quality in general.

What percentage of modern demos are 3d flybys?:
ca 90%

What percentage of older demos are the same effects recycled?:

ca 90%

What platform(s) needs more demos?:
Most use PCs these days, so more PC demos are always welcomed

Which parties do you intend to go to, and which parties would you like to go to? Please describe your personal experiences with your most favourite or impressive party you have ever been at.:
I've enjoyed taking part in most parties between 1990-1997.
I don't really attend parties any longer. Except smaller reunions with old friends for fun.

How did the scene alter since you are taking an active part in it? Can you explain why?:
I think the internet hype played a big part of what happened after 1997, when the bigger parties suddenly turned into Counterstrike competitions instead of focusing on creative youth being able to produce amazing productions.

Also, suddenly a lot of IRC chatters came to parties in 1997+ to sit there and chat on IRC with their "friends" on the screen while they actually was in the same big sporthall. That fact keeps amazing me even today...

In the begining, it was more about having fun meeting your group mates and making something to show off on the big screen after a few days of being together. I more enjoy that aspect of it all than the newer generations way of just playing games beside eachother and chat online while being in the same room.

What are your dreams/goals in life, did scene help you and have you achieved them yet?:
The scene background did help me get a nice job in the booming IT business.
But I still haven't released my audio CD, but I am working on that part...

Finally, do you have some special greetings? Feel free to add links to your graphics, screenshots of effects, modules or other pieces of your work.:
Greetz to all former and active members in TBL, Andromeda, Spaceballs. And all ppl in Funcom, Digital Illusion and Innerloop which I still know and have contact with from the old scene days. And last, a big greetz to all those I met during my active days on parties, BBS's, internet forums/chats or through the old fasion swapping through ordinary postal services. It was a blast!
