As you may remember, ZINE had partnered with SIGGRAPH, organizing the entry of selected demoscene productions for jury consideration at the Computer Animation Festival of SIGGRAPH in 2007. Conspiracy’s Chaos Theory was picked for the show, while Kewlers’ Aesterozoa and ASD’s Evolution of Vision were also shown at the theatre, but outside the regular competition.

ZINE would like to give you some impressions from the theatre, by means of a couple of photos. Is that a bigscreen or what?

Evolution of Vision by ASD

Evolution of Vision by ASD

Paul Debevec, head of the Computer Animation Festival at SIGGRAPH 2007, asked Navis to make some changes to Evolution of Vision. Paul wanted to use EOV to welcome people to the theatre, so Navis modified the demo’s text.

Aesterozoa by Kewlers

Aesterozoa was really well received by Paul Debevec in particular. This was one of the reasons he wanted to give it some attention in the pre-show of the Computer Animation Festival. The Kewlers gang had to make some high-res captures and last minute optimizations so that the picture wouldn’t be “distorted”. Everything turned out really well in the end, and it simply looked stunning on the big screen.

Chaos Theory by Conspiracy

Conspiracy’s winning 64k intro of Assembly 2007 was “the one”. It was chosen by the jury out of approximately 20 Demoscene productions to enter the Computer Animation Festival. It thereby entered the Premier League of computer graphics, putting it in the same boat as the biggest video games and special effects of the motion picture industry. Again, congratulations to Conspiracy.
