ZX81 Graphic Competition 2007
Hello there.
H-PRG & SPC are proud to announce You the first *ever* GRAPHIC COMPO for ZX81 computer! (and clones)!
I got the idea while looking on brilliant pictures made by Andre Baune (probably the best ZX81 graphician).
The idea is simple (probably simplier than to put it into practice) -
make Your picture as a short program in ZX81's basic, using ZX81's gfx-characetrs.
In code You can split the pic into - let's say - 3 basic's lines, as editing full pic in one line is pretty annoing in ZX81 computers.
If You are a Spectrum user, note that GRAPHIC mode on ZX81 is similar to ZX SPECTRUM but NOT identical.
Enter to GRAPHIC mode by pressing SHIFT+9 (the same like on Speccy). But remember that to exit the mode You have ALSO to press SHIFT+9 (not just 9, like on Spectrum).
You can type with gfx characters only with SHIFT, with exception of SPACE key which should be used WITHOUT SHIFT and gives You a black attribute 8*8 dots.
To achieve WHITE 8*8 attribute You have to exit gfx-mode and simply press SPACE.
There is no INVERSE mode, like on Speccy, but ZX81 has MORE GFX-CHARACTERS: also on keys from Q to Y.
Using keys from S to H You will get cool gfx-characters that are no available on Spectrum at all (dotted stuff to have gray colour).
Remeber that ZX81's keyboard is NOT self-repeating.
****DON'T SIGN Your work. But You can send me 2 versions of Your picture (ONE CAN BE SIGNED).****
If You use an emulator (Xtender or others), while saving type:
SAVE "NAME"
and it will be automatically saved as:
name.p
Loading is the same:
LOAD "NAME"
and emul will find and load the file but the file must be in the same catalogue as the emulator.
